Polemics: Essays in American Literary & Cultural Criticism is a new journal of political commentary from editor David Holloway at the University of Derby, England. This first issue features a stunning article by John Beck entitled "Fillibusters and Fundamentalists: Blood Meridian and the New Right," concerning the mixed political discourses in McCarthy’s epic novel. This is a unique and rare sociopolitical discussion of the novel, and potentially a new classic of McCarthy criticism. Other essays discuss Pasolini's films, Charles Bukowski, and Hubert Selby Jr.'s classic Last Exit to Brooklyn.
