    We need to know of any problems people are having with the new Bookstore.

    We’ve not had any purchases since the new site went live, and we’ve no good way to test the new shopping cart software until someone gets all the way through the order process.

    If you’ve tried to order something and cannot, please let me know, either here or via emailing webmaster@cormacmccarthy.com.

    Well, I tried to order something and the screen faded and went kind of smoky black and opaque. And then…nothing.

    Its still there. I filled out basic info but never made it to the next page.

    Also…the images are very small. The t-shirt pics don’t go bigger when you click on them to see the details of the drawing. More information of each author in the books might be nice too with some tasty descriptions of the essay contents?

    I will try again, but the page has just been sitting there smoky black for about an hour.

    Smoky black is good. Means it was working. But what should have happened, I think, is that the smoky black screen should have had a popup in it that should have let you finish the transaction in PayPal.

    We’ve had one successful order.

    And yes, I’m mindful of the need for larger images, etc.

    There should be descriptions of everything, though–two, in fact. One on the page that shows all items and one on the detail page for an item.

    What browser and OS are you using, pray tell?

    Marty, I take it back…the descriptions are good…I had only read the ones on first page. I spent a bit more time on each page and each book. sorry they are in fact quite enjoyable to read. I wanted to go nuts and buy many!

    I did try again. I have the smoky black page right there now. And it had a small square pop up and say “processing” which gave me hope. But now its just sitting there again.

    I am on an OSX mac…it’s old from 2006…but upgraded. My browser is Safari. I will try on my phone perhaps…maybe my baby desktop is too old.

    About the descriptions: glad you found ’em.

    I did all the development and testing of the site on a Mac with Safari and Firefox, so you might try the latter and see if you get different results.

    It may be that your Safari is too old and can’t be upgraded any more–because of the OS you’re running.
