I live a couple hours from Knoxville in northeast Tennessee. That’s one of the things that drew my to McCarthy’s writing. (It’s funny seeing the word “you’ns” in print because I thought only a select few people around here said the word).

Is there anything Cormac McCarthy-related to visit around here? Like any place that may have inspired his early work?

There are many inspirational things in Knox, Blount and Sevier Counties to see and visit related to The Orchard Keeper, Child of God, Suttree and The Road and McCarthy’s life. See Peter Josyph’s Cormac McCarthy’s House: Reading McCarthy Without Walls and in particular pages 33-60, “A Walk with Wesley Morgan through Suttree’s Knoxville” for some ideas.
