I am pretty sure that McCarthy’s work as volunteer copy editor has been commented on here on the FORUM several times. I apologize for not being able to find and cite them. In any event his help has been acknowledged by physical scientists Lawrence Krauss, Lisa Randall, Murray Gell-Mann, and George Johnson. Another interesting example came to light yesterday in an interview by Rick Tetzeli with the economist W. Brian Arthur.

If reading Economics gets your knickers in a knot, then just skip down to the last two paragraphs. The anecdote brought a welcome smile to my face in these ‘interesting’ times.

Really makes you wonder how his son’s book reports end up after the first draft!
