Well, we thought we were on the brink of a couple of 50th Anniversary gifts from Knopf but I now have it on pretty good authority that we’re the better part of a year, and maybe a little more than that, away from publication of the two parts of The Passenger. If anything changes, I’ll be sure to let everyone know.

Do we know anything yet about how Knopf will market and sell The Passenger. Mostly I am interested in knowing if there will be signed copies available for purchase via any websites. I live in Northern Wisconsin and doubt, knowing our author, that any stops will be made by him personally to my region of the country.

I have no idea. He’s done special signed editions through a bookbinder in New Orleans, of all places, but I’ve heard nothing about any special editions of these two forthcoming novels.

Color me extremely doubtful. I’m told McCarthy was dissatisfied with the previous limited editions of his books, and he wouldn’t be doing any more. I’d guess that there might be a version of the first edition with a signed tipped-in page, as there were for The Border Trilogy (at least, I think all volumes of The Border Trilogy got one of those). Those weren’t widely available; the rumor is that McCarthy signed fewer than 200 of each.
