Okay, this is too good to pass up.

Last Thursday, I met Dave Holloway in Boston and took our English colleague to a classic baseball matchup between the Borg and the Beanbags at Fenway Park. The game was a bit of a wet match – the Fenway fans exhibited their greatest exuberance when singing the execrable “Sweet Caroline” during the seventh inning stretch, and could barely muster about twenty seconds of a “Yankees suck!” chant that faded away in a circumscribed dystopia of the grandstand. The beanbags went down to shutout ignominy in the game.

    However:

We did get to watch the Borg’s new entry into their famous tradition of monster mashers, a rookie outfielder named Aaron Judge. He’s a hulking 6’7″ 282 lb. Goliath with biceps on his biceps who has already crushed eleven gophers and shows no sign of letting up.

So, there’s a new Judge in town. I am thinking of having a 4XL Judge Holden t-shirt made up and sending it up to him along with a nice fresh copy of Blood Meridian, and launching a social media campaign comparing him to our beloved scalphunter.

    Seems worth a try.

Richard: 282 lbs., based on a stock scale reading from Chihuahua.

He crushed another one last night. Leads the league with 13 gophers. And I hear tell he’s one hell of a fiddle player.
